Popular Naughty is a streetwear company that specializes in that kinda dive bar, burlesque club, vintage, punk rock in yer frackin’ face designs We are toying with bringing the online shop here. Hey, if it is good enough for Miss Mia Vixen, it should be good enough for anyone.
So I went to Comikaze 2012 last weekend, partially to run up some display stuff and maybe help out a bit for the cast and crew of Bad Kids Go To Hell, my new fave indie cult hit; and also to see if it would be worth getting a booth for Popular Naughty.
I would have to say it is a good booth idea. The show itself is kinda old school Comic Con… easy to see it all, a very casual atmosphere to speak with the artists and creators, tons of super geek chic shopping options, and a reasonable load of panels to see. It did have a shortage of actual COMICS, but I am sure that will grow. Stan Lee IS one of the show’s owners now.
I LOVED that they had an pre-show concert. Pop art and alternative music have always been delightful bedfellows, so Peter Murphy was a perfect choice. Here are a few pics.
Now get this. Adrianne Curry, one of the show’s organizers, Stan, and Peter took the stage and Stan Lee and Bauhaus singer Peter Murphy sang a duet of That Old Black Magic.
Wow, the voice of legendary post punk goth group Bauhaus kneeling to the Nerd King.
A very cool alien salesman by the makeup peeps from Face Off.
Bad Kid Go TO Hell co-writer Matthew Spradlin had a casual victim/zombie relationship with a couple of roaming zombies.
There was also the cute geek factor.
Here is Bad Kids Go To Hell actress Amanda Alch lookin’ all retro megahoot.
Yes, I DO have a thing for redheads. Here is the ubercute Alana from Face Off.
