Finally settled in LA. All things moved and within reach. Now to become integrated into the creative, arts, and absurdist scene that bubbles under the Hollywood glitz. First off after a Friday night off we have this great event at Self Help Graphics around the corner from my new Boyle Heights pad-
EVEN CLOSER is a well rounded performance in an incredible multi-media space, Dronebox, we have Legendary Comic, Adam Barnhardt’s One-Man Show, Comedy by Jeff Husbands, and LIVE MUSIC by The Flusters https://www.facebook.com/events/285190801875736/
Tomorrow it is only an extra couple of miles to the Fashion District and that mad loft in an area abandoned at dusk, Think Tank Gallery
for a show, a podcast, and probably some sketchy food that I will buy from a street vendor.
“The future is looking sexy this weekend at Think Tank. We welcome The Fuchur to our clean white walls, where there will be a selection of very dirty artworks for your pleasure.
The show is an elaborate expo of what humanity could look like in 200 years. Around the gallery you will find ambassadors from the future here to show us what is in store.” Then a live podcast from the sub luminaries from Awkward Human.
It’s a start. R
For the 8th year or so, maybe 9 who knows or cares, we from Danger Factory, Popular Naughty and friends will be displaying our wares and personalities at booth 1617 within the mind-boggling Comic Con International! Besides the clothing line thing (all designed by raconteur, Lothario and artist-type, Rex Edhlund), we will have a selection of super rare TIKI MUGS from Boo Tiki, and the most recent releases from legendary alt art and underground publisher LAST GASP! Please come by. Please enjoy.
Aah, here’s some now. I am completely unfamiliar with this, but there are giant holes in my anime education that I need to work on. Here’s what HobbySearch in Japan has to say about it.
Popular Anime ● “Queens Blade” than in the pitch-black outfit – a veteran mercenary Echidna]
We will send.
Popular addition to our previous work ●, we also repainted skin and facial expressions.
● Mr. GIGANTES archetype of course! Please enjoy daily!
Sword ●, the shield can be removed. Of course, the snake (Kerutan) is also removable. 16,020 yen
Wassat? “the shield can be removed. Of course, the snake (Kerutan) is also removable?” I see. Yep, weird pop. I love you Japan. You’re my special guys! I especially love the recommendation to “enjoy daily”.
Geeks rule the world, well not the ENTIRE world, just the fun bits. We have the reins of pop culture and if we keep doing it right with loads of vim and tons of vigor, we can slowly transform the world into a cool, loving, super-colorful, exciting place. We CAN have our jetpacks. Get to work team geek!
How do I start. Holy Cthulhu this was a whirlwind of a show. THIS is the year I start taking the clothing line thing seriously and build the shop and promote and sell my patoot off. I lucked into discovering the beautifully opinionated pleasure of Comic Book Girl 19s online existance and immediately looked into becoming a sponsor. Perfect timing! I had an extra room in this big live/work loftspace I operate called Industry Showroom in downtown San Diego and they had no tickets or room to crash in. Boom! We put together a punk rock, Comic Con summer camp and I brought down CBG19 to help work our booth (and boost her profile). Her lovely, bearded assistant Tyson (the robot/videographer/editor/loved one) came with and we had all the makings of a good show.
Here is her take on it.
(On a horrible note; your Danger Factory host- me, Rex Edhlund, is in there but- WOW do I look like crap in this thing. Remember, zero sleep, I had massive responsibilities with outside parties this year, I am building a clothing line, I do marketing, I promote geek stuff, I run Industry Showroom and use these as lame excuses to eat crappily ever after. Ugh, I look like a ripe grape and can’t bear it. My vanity has taken a hit. Frackit! Midlife crisis starting…NOW!)
Our big collaborative booth creative mess was pretty much the island of misfit toys for us locals and luminaries that couldn’t get their own big space. Well, I had the booth but I like to be sharing. So, Danger Factory hosted Comic Book Girl 19 and shared the booth with Platt College and Nerdular. Both of which I will have more to say about later.

The Fest will once again be at the Town and Country Resort and Convention Center and will be held October 4-6, 2013. I went to the first one and it was SO COOL! Uber casual and a fun mix of people, mostly old-timers, there to happily fill in any gaps you have in your pop-culture brain-based database.

Los Angeles’ largest pop-culture convention, owned by comic legend Stan Lee and Horror icon, Elvira, Mistress of the Dark and a few other crazy and creative people. Right there in downtown LA.!

Just sayin’. Yeah it is super important that she is also a geek, that’s what gets her to THIS site, but the facts are she is pretty much a perfect creature. These pics are an example.. no make up, no prep time, now warning. Just, “Hey Justine! We have two minutes, can you throw these on so I can maybe get a pic for a postcard?” Snap, snap, click, click, oy and here they are- a super pretty girl with every nerd’s dream qualities. She even does improv now with Comic Book Live! The very same troupe that OG Geek Chris Gore is in.
You will see lots more of her, hang tight. And SOMEBODY needs to book her for a Cosplay shoot. Maybe we should do a Kickstarter campaign for that. We need that.Oh, and the shirt she is wearing is the Vintage Destroyer. from Popular Naughty.
